Spiritual warriors are foremost peaceful because they have found inner peace and discovered the elusive sacred place inside that nobody is allowed to enter, which paradoxically allows them to be more closely connected to others.

They are superior judges of character, yet have developed not just tolerance of others, but the moral virtue of temperance. They possess great moral wisdom and live by the code of bushido, can be found in practically any profession, and may be educated scholars, poets, and artisans.

Tour Grandmaster Tobey Leung’s Strength & Conditioning Room

Grandmaster Leung welcomes you into his home and gives a brief tour of his personal strength and conditioning room. He trains with cable pulleys for a wide variety of resistance exercises for the upper body and lower body, using ankle straps, because of the free range of motion and angles that can be more sports-specific and functional than with traditional resistance machines.
He trains methodically and breaks up different muscle groups on alternating days. For instance, he trains chest and lats on one day, and shoulders, traps, and arms on another day. Grandmaster Leung believes lower body strength, flexibility, and agility are crucial in all combative arts and thus he emphasizes a variety of regular exercises for all muscle groups in the hips and legs.
Core strength is fundamental in activities of daily living and sports, and thus he does not ignore abdominal work and low back exercises. Grandmaster Leung cannot over-emphasize the importance of overall flexibility in the martial arts in addition to cardiovascular and muscle endurance. Thus, he is a proponent of HIT (high intensity training), such as Hurricane.
Grandmaster Leung instructs in safe, yet progressive general strength and conditioning exercises along with a variety of challenging MMA training drills. Grandmaster Leung strongly believes athletes should maximize their physical fitness so they can excel in their chosen sport and minimize injuries, instead of weekend warriors who primarily play sports to get in shape.
So, beyond general strength and conditioning, Grandmaster Leung maintains his speed, power, and accuracy through specific martial arts training in his garage. He will explain the scientific concepts behind exercise physiology and biomechanics, and apply specific techniques to maximize fitness and athletic performance, using MMA as a training template, in his strength and conditioning instructional program.
